Strong start to AV Shield for MUAC

Shield Round 1

Melbourne University Athletics Club started the season in stellar style with 25 athletes travelling North to Meadowglen International Athletics Stadium for Round One of AV Shield on Saturday 13th October. MUAC started strongly with Pole Vault victories to Cath Macrae (3.30m) and Leon D’Donfrio (3.60m). A strong showing by the White Train for the first track event with 9 MUAC men toeing the line in the 1500m, whilst Sarah McSweeney took 1st place in the Women’s 1500m in 4:38.59, a National Qualifying mark.  Cath Macrae continued her good jumping form winning the Long Jump with 4.79m, with Dawn Hartigan claiming first in the Div 1 Javelin with 24.22m.  Sarah James carried her good form through from the XCR season to post 17:22 and win the 5000m.  The Men’s 4x100m team took second place to Essendon. 

MUAC will be back in action for Round 2 of AV Shield at Meadowglen this Saturday, October 20 at Meadowglen International Athletics Stadium.
