Strong results at Lake Wendouree for MUAC
Round 3 XCR13
MUAC arrived at Lake Wendouree to surprisingly mild weather conditions despite some athlete’s predictions of cold, blustery Ballarat weather. The club’s 22 men and 9 women competitors continued to build race distance this week with a 15K course around the lake. The field of 379 men and 163 women only had to battle a few Ks of slight headwinds on the back side of the lake.
MUAC’s Division 1 Women’s team continued their third place streak. Leading for the women was Alex Bull in 57:59 followed by Julie McNamara 59:41, Ruth Mills 60:34 and Roisin Jones 65:23.
The Division 1 Men’s team pulled together a solid fourth place showing from the efforts of Mark Kirwan 48:42, David Paroissien 51:14, Alexander van der Meer 51:28, Patrick White 53:04, Zac Newman 53:53 and Andrew Selby Smith 53:59.
One lone U20 competed in the 5K. Despite some soreness, Jasmine Liu completed the course in 23:15.
Prepared for the journey back to Melbourne by afternoon tea, club athletes toasted the day with a round or two on the bus ride home, whilst other White Train athletes stayed in Ballarat to sample some of the nightlife.
MUAC returns to action on Saturday, 8th June at Brimbank Park for Round 4 of XCR’13.
