Amidst a high drama 20km race walk on the Mall between Buckingham Palace and Admiralty Arch, Regan Lamble fought hard to be the first Australian home in 22nd place, in 1:31:30. Up front the race saw a disqualification in the final 200m for a potential medal winner after a lead pack of 10 athletes broke clear of the field early. Large crowds lined The Mall on the final morning of the Championships for the Festival of Walks with all four race walks taking place over the morning. Lamble, the 2017 Andrew And Geraldine Buxton Scholarship Holder, had honed her fitness in St Moritz in the weeks leading up to the titles.  As the top ranked Commonwealth athlete at both the 2017 World Championships and the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, Regan will go into the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games with a great deal of confidence.
