Relay double at Meadowglen
AV Shield Round 6
MUAC claimed the 4x400m double at Meadowglen as both Womens and Mens teams took second place at Round 6 of AV Shield at Meadowglen on Saturday 24th of November.
A strong effort to fill events paid dividends as both teams registered their best performance of the season so far.
In a dramatic finish, Melissa Natasha held off the fast finishing Essendon team to bring home MUAC for the victory, only 15 minutes after running the 3000m. Round 6 also saw the return of Kath Clarke and Carmen Deane and their presence saw an big boost to the Womens team. Clarke took first in the 200m (25.60) and second in the 800m (2:14.3), whilst Deane claimed first in the Shot Put (9.38m). Clarke and Deane also garnered valuable points in other events as well. Jo Bromfield, on seasons debut won the triple jump with a hop, step and jump of 12.01m and took third in the 200m (27.32). Metal star Corwin Pusch took second in the 200m (22.52) and was part of the 4x400m with Leighton Stace, Luca Cosic and Tyson Garnham that won. Dion Houtman must be commended for his first up attempt at the 400m hurdles (80.82). Aaron Page won the High Jump with a 1.91m leap and took second in the Shot Put (10.64m). Kath Iannello continued her points accusation with a slew of events including second in the hammer (20.26m).
