Naylor nurturing future MUAC star
2019 Oceania Area Championships
Lee Naylor joined MUAC in her first year of University in 1989, in that year breaking the Australian U20 400m record and ranking as the third junior in the world as an 18 year old. By the time Lee retired in 2000, after competing in her second Olympic Games in Sydney, she was a Commonwealth Games Gold medallist, World Championships bronze medallist, held two MUAC club records (that are still to be broken) and completed a PhD in the Department of Medicine at the University of Melbourne.
Fast forward to today and Lee’s eldest son 16, y.o Max Holmes is the current U18 Victorian Champion over 400m hurdles and the National silver medallist in the event. These achievements have seen Max selected in the Australian junior team which will compete in the upcoming Oceania Championships in Townsville June 24-29, 2019.
We look forward to seeing Max as a Melbourne University student and wearing the sash at some stage soon!
