round22

MUAC’s Division One teams remain undefeated after a windy Saturday at Newport Athletics Track. Strong team efforts saw the Division One Women win with a score of 7125 points, over 3000 ahead of their nearest rival. Division One Men matched that effort, putting themselves 2500 points clear of second place by scoring 7970 points.

Fine individual performances on the day came from many, including Seamus Hayes who for the second week in a row was too fast to be captured by the photo finish camera.  Kath Iannello’s 3.xxm pole vault was the top individual performance of the round, collecting 505 points.  Sarah James’ 1500m of 4:40.5 (just half a second outside the national qualifier) was a great opening to the season and scored 467 points.  Javelin gun Mate Zahtila was the highest scoring male, collecting 478 points for his 50.8m throw. Kira Davey collected the highest points total on the day scoring 1531 points across 5 events.
