MUAC racks up two more wins in the wind-whipped west
AV Shield Round 5
A hardy mob of MUAC athletes defied the winds to continue the club’s unbeaten AV Shield season. Our Division 1 teams claimed victory with the men winning by 913 points and the women winning by 844 points. Kaitlin Morgan’s 1.75m high jump was the highest scoring performance of the day collecting 512 points, just in front of Hannah Alderton’s 1.70m jump (500 points). Kira Davey, Kath Iannello and Elizabeth Ruach continue to lead the way for the women, both scoring more points than the team’s winning margin. The Division One women also had an emphatic win in the relay, providing an example that the men would do well to follow. Timothy Breadmore starred on debut for MUAC collecting a personal best of 1.95m in the high jump and topping the scoring for the team with 484 points. Much credit for the unbeaten start to the season goes to the athletes turning up every week to help the team out. It takes a lot of athletes to fill the team and everyone can contribute to the team’s success.
MUAC sits atop the AV Shield ladder at present and will be working hard to take a strong team to AV Shield Final in February.
MUAC will be in action next Sunday at Newport Athletics Track for Round 6 of AV Shield.
