MUAC out in force for inaugural Pride Round
2019 Pride Round
Melbourne University Athletics Club kicked off it’s inaugural Pride Round with a dinner at the Clyde Hotel on Thursday night. Jayde de Bondt, Inclusion and Diversity Manager at both Melbourne University Women’s Football Club and North Melbourne Football Club, drove a spirited discussion about how inclusion and diversity can work in and for clubs, and the myriad of ways it can be pursued. Two of the key messages were those of engagement and persistence.
The MUAC Pride Round was held to coincide with the Mardi Gras in Sydney at the first weekend of the Victorian Track and Field Championships. MUAC athletes were prominent all weekend in rainbow warm up tops, and wearing Pride in Sport wrist bands, showing their support for GLBTIQA+ athletes. A big thanks to Athletics Victoria for promoting the round all weekend and encouraging people to show their support.
Please get in touch if you’d like to get involved in MUAC’s efforts to support GLBTIQA+ athletes.
