MUAC looks strong ahead of AV Shield Final
AV Shield Round 12 and Around the Grounds
MUAC will roll into the AV Shield Final with Division One Teams that have lost once between them in the 11 rounds of competition. This form was confirmed with two more victories at the ultimate Round of AV Shield with MUAC competitors in action across the state. The Division One Women won by 300 points, scoring 6343, with the Division One Men taking the win by 2000 points with a tally of 7279 points. Ally O’Brien took fealty to the team to the next level, heading down the Princes Highway to qualify for the Shield Final in the walk at Landy Field. Her dedication was rewarded with pizza and beer across the road at Little Creatures Brewery. At ‘home’, Catriona Bisset, with an assist from teammate Katrina Anderson, ran another PB, lower her 800m time to 2:06 and rounding into top shape ahead of the championship season. The team was buoyed by the return of reliable points magnet Kira Davey from an extensive tour abroad and athletes stepped up for the team to run relays and help our teams get people eligible for the final.
In other competition Joel Baden jumped another CGB qualifier in Perth, clear 2.20m with squadmate Joseph Baldwin jumping 2.10m.
Thursday night action saw some fine performances at Vic Milers Club Meet 3 with Georgia Hansen returning to competition to win the A 1500m and Kat Anderson running a PB in a stacked A 800m.
MUAC athletes were prominent at the Hunter Track Classic too, with Matt Scott claiming 2nd in the 400m and Isaac Hockey making his 1500m debut, running a creditable 3:45.
Rosie Donegan improved her own MUAC Mile Record, running 4:43.96 at Harvard University on Sunday.
WA State Championships results
MUAC athletes will be in action this weekend at the Victorian Country Championships at Llanberis Reserve in Ballarat and at the ACT Championships.
