MUAC hits it out of the park with half century
XCR’18 Round 6: Lakeside:10
It was another great day for MUAC with lots of PB’s, a medal and many club division placings. With the sun shining and a slight breeze, a record of number of 50 MUAC athletes turned up to Albert Park to compete. This is the third time that a record for number of athletes at an individual race has been broken this year! In the premier Men’s, Charlie Park finished a fast 10km in 29.30, which put him in 7thplace and ahead of Nick Earl who finished in 8thplace with a time of 30.02. Frankie Conway, Max Ueda, Caleb Muller and Chris O’Niel also finished fast sub-32 minute races and helped lead the premier men’s team to second place. In our target teams, the division 5 Men, finishing first overall, are now only one point from the lead and 13 points clear of 3rd place. The division 6 Men were also victorious in taking out first place.
The premier Women’s team had some top results with Lucinda Buckley finishing in 7thplace with an incredible time of 35.40. Amy McCormick and Stella Radford ran sub-40 minute races and notable performances were seen by Lisa Dick and Sarah Horsfield. Overall the premier Women’s finished in 6thposition and the division 3 Women are now 9 points from the promotion zone.
One of the highlights of the day was seeing Ciara Boyd-Squires, who had just recovered after spending time in hospital overseas, perform very strongly overall and in the under 20’s. Ciara took home a silver medal in a speedy time of 37.10.
And finally, some MUAC debuts include: Kavin, Stephen Sloan, Alex Baldwin and Michael Phung
A well-deserved post-race brunch at the Carousel cafe served as celebration for the all-round amazing MUAC performances and PB’s.
