Morgan hits heights in twilight
AV Shield Round 9
MUAC’s Division One Women finished the season with a flourish, securing their 7th win of the season and looking strong for the AV Shield Final in February. The Thursday night twilight meet at Aberfeldie saw Kaitlin Morgan headlined the performances, clearing 1.81m in the high jump and taking creditable attempts at her PB, 1.86m. Kira Davey continued her relentless pursuit of points scoring in all field events. Relay team leader Elizabeth Ruach delivered again for the team wrangling three teams for the round. Emily Lawson made an impressive debut over 800m, stressing the field in her race and clocking 2:19.8. Ellen Schaef also clocked another national qualifier, running 2:11. Elizabeth Ruach and Salamata Konate took the top two spots in the Division 1 200m.
The MUAC Division One Men started their fight back to form, with a second place to Essendon at their home track. Top performances came from Jarrod Pageot and Julian O’Donnell in the high jump, Nick Earl in the 5000m and Mate Zahtila and Jarrod Pageot in the shot put.
With three rounds remaining in the AV Shield season, MUAC will be focused on building strong teams to take to the Shield Final in February at Lakeside.
