Medals and a record at Vic Champs for MUAC
2014 Victorian Track and Field Championships
MUAC collected four medals, a new club record and fourth place on the HH Hunter Shield from three days of competion at Lakeside Stadium. The Championships from 28 Feb-2Mar at the home of Victorian Athletics saw Sarah McSweeney defend her Victorian title in the 3000m steeplechase and break her own club record, running 10:25.01. Mark Kirwan came agonisingly close to claiming the club record in the 3000m steeplechase as well. An impressive silver medal in 9:09.81 finds him just .01 outside the club record. Kath Iannello took home a silver medal in the Pole Vault on the Friday night, vaulting 3.70m. Aaron Page won bronze in the decathlon, scoring 6535 points.
There were strong top 8 performances from Jo Bromfield, Hannah Alderton, Carmen Deane, Simon Greig, Kaitlin Morgan, Jacquie Sharples, Jarrod Pageot, James Pullan, Genevieve Lawrence and Sophie Barker.
MUAC’s fourth place in the HH Hunter Shield demonstrates the depth of the club.
