Iannello, Mashford and Blake shine on hot Tuesday
Victorian Milers Club Meet 3/ Rare Air Club 4
MUAC athletes took advantage of perfect conditions with some scorching performances on a warm, still evening at Box Hill. Kath Iannello cleared a season’s best 3.50m to win the Pole Vault, with Dawn Hartigan and Jem Gibs, getting over 3.00m for 7th and 8th respectively. Aaron Page continues his build up to the multi event season clearing 4.00m for 5th place. 400+ entrants made for some tough and tightly graded racing at Box Hill and there were PB’s a plenty. Sam Blake carved another couple of seconds off his 800m best to take 4th in an exciting A race, running 1:52.02. Martin Mashford looks to be in great shape heading into the top level domestic season, running 3:46:56 for 4th in the A 1500m, a time that got him to the final at the Australian Championships last summer. Frankie Conway broke four minutes for the first time, running 3:59.07, with Nick Earl also dipping under, running 3:58.00. Yohan Philip broke two minutes for the first time, running 1:58.48. Adam Hannah also clocked a PB, running 4.32.16.
MUAC athletes will be back in action on the weekend at the Victorian Country Championships in Geelong and at AV Knockout 2 on Sunday at Lakeside.
