Championship glory on the Rawlinson
2017 Victorian Mile Championships
The Rawlinson Track was set alight recently as 36 races of middle distance running provided a full night of entertainment for a big crowd eager to see high quality competition. MUAC’s Sarah Billings took out the newly inaugurated Tamsyn Lewis 800m and three men dipped under 4 minutes for the mile in the Victorian Mile Championship. 11 of the 20 fastest Victorian women of 800m were on hand to witness the racing, as Billings, paced by Georgia Griffith, continued her impressive recent form running 2:05.6 not far outside her MUAC record. The Championship races saw Madeleine Murray of Deakin record a comfortable victory in 4:47.1 whilst Jordan Gusman worked hard to hold off Olympian Brett Robinson and rising star Jack Rayner with the three of them all dipping under 4 minutes. athsvicTV was on hand to record all of the action and many thanks to Peter Stefanos for taking some great photos. A big thanks as well to the MUAC crew for helping out setting up, running the BBQ and packing up.
