Bronze for McSweeney at Vic5k
Victorian 5000m Championships
Sarah McSweeney continued her rich vein of early season form taking home bronze in the Victorian 5000m Championship at Lakeside Stadium on a windy Thursday night. McSweeney worked with Courtney Powell through the gusty wind for much of the twelve and a half laps with Powell stretching away over the last 600m to take the win and clock a World Junior Championships Qualifier. McSweeney pushed hard to take 3rd in 16:49.35. Sarah James made her return to Lakeside a good one, clocking a respectable 17:45 off a base of easy training miles.
Paul Munro was the fastest of the MUAC men, clocking 15:32 to come second in the C race. Hamish Beaumont took tenth in the same race in 16:13. Tim Hui finished just outside the placings in the F race, clocking an impressive 18:17.
