Bisset snares silver at IAAF World Relays

2019 IAAF World Relays

Catriona Bisset made an emphatic debut on the international athletic stage, teaming up with Joshua Ralph (SUAC) to win silver in the 2x2x400m at the 2019 IAAF World Relays. Bisset, fresh from her Australian Championship win and 1:59 effort at UniSport Nationals, looked entirely at home on the international stage in Yokohama, leading out the Australian team and passing to Ralph in third place.  It was her second leg that would prove the difference, overtaking the highly fancied US team and setting Australia up for the silver.  Her combined time was the fastest for all females in the race, and this bodes well for an international calendar will see her travel to Napoli for Summer Universiade, Townsville for Oceania Area Championships and Doha for the 2019 IAAF World Championships. Both Ralph and Bisset deserve credit for fighting back from illness in the week leading up to the race, keen not to pass up the opportunity to represent Australia.

It was an exciting day for the Australia team all round, with the women’s 4x100m and men’s 4x400m teams qualifying for the World Championships.
