Baden leaps to bronze at AAC14
92 Australian Athletics Championships and 2014 Commonwealth Games Selection Trials
A brace of MUAC athletes took to Lakeside Stadium over 4 days in April contesting the National Titles. Joel Baden stood out, claiming the bronze medal in the Open Men’s High Jump with a comfortable clearance at 2.16m and several strong attempts at 2.20m. The schoolboy, looking towards study at Melbourne University in 2015, collected another World Junior Championships qualifier and will be a strong contender in Eugene, Oregon in late July.
Sarah McSweeney took 5th in the 3000m Steeplechase, in 10:31, not far from her MUAC record, set at the Victorian Championships. She will now turn her attention to a solid winter of cross country and road racing.
Aaron Page was 9th Australian home in the decathlon with 6468 points, and edges ever closer to claiming the MUAC decathlon record.
MUAC athletes return to action this weekend for the AV Shield Final.
