Baden bounds to Beijing
15th IAAF World Championships
Joel Baden, 1st year Bachelor of Science student at the University of Melbourne, will make his senior international debut at the 2015 IAAF World Championships in Beijing this month in the High Jump. Baden, part of Melbourne University Sport’s Elite Athlete Program, has been training, both on the Rawlinson Track and in the Beaurepaire gym, for several years under the tutelage of Sandro Bisetto, MUAC coach and one of Australia’s best High Jump coaches. The Melbourne University Athletics Club member, with a personal best of 2.29m, will focus on qualifying for the final in one of the feature events of the championship. In a new golden age for High Jump, 5 men have cleared 2.40m in the last 18 months and the world record of 2.45m looks under some threat. Baden, with dreams of the 2016 Olympic Games, will hope to acquit himself well against the best jumpers in the world. The qualifying rounds will be held on Friday, 28th of August with the final on Sunday, 30th of August.
