AV Shield Round 6

av shield round 6

A rare Sunday round of AV Shield saw most of the MUAC cohort descend on Aberfeldie, fighting to remain undefeated and eager to put some points on the board after a washed out competition last weekend. Cautious, savvy and dedicated officiating saw the competition completed without any interruptions despite some showers and a couple of strikes of distant lightning.  The Melbourne Uni Division 1 Women tallied up 8793 points to comprehensively take out the round and recording the highest teams score across the state. The Division 1 Men followed their lead with their 8778 points also topping the division and the state. At the halfway point of the season both teams remain undefeated.

Several MUAC athletes hit high marks, scoring over 500 points. Sarah Billings ran her first 800 of the season in 2:10.2 to deliver a handy 514 points for the team with Nick Earl’s 9:31.6 ‘chase also hitting the heights with 503 points.  Catriona Bissett was the second highest scorer for the women with 483 points (400m, 56.65) with our 4x200m team third (1:50.4, 469 points). Tristan Freulon Hernandez and Harrison Kimpton Moss both clocked 10.99 in the 100m for 480 points,  with Kimpton Moss backing up for a good run in the 400m at the end of the day (50.39, 468 points). MUAC’s Men also claimed good points in the relay running 1:35.7.

A big thanks to all the volunteers who helped out during the day at the pole vault and the long jump!

MUAC will be back in action this Saturday with competition at Doncaster, Ringwood, Geelong, Ballarat and Bendigo.
