9 MUAC teams to Jells Park for start of XCR14 season

Melbourne University Athletics Club takes 9 strong teams to the Jells Park Relays on Saturday, 3rd May for Round 1 of the XCR14 season. Amongst the 40 athletes competing, 11 will be making their debut for the White Train, with the influx of new students providing extra depth to an already strong MUAC squad.

MUAC will field teams in both Mens and Womens Premier Division, Womens Division 3 and 5, and Mens Divisions 2, 3, 6 and 7. With 295 teams and 1100 athletes from across Victoria taking part, MUAC will be racing the best cross country runners in the state and hoping to take home some medals.

The Womens Premier team will have a strong lineup featuring, World Cross Country representative Sophie Barker, gun 1500m runner Amanda Paulin, MUAC Womens Team Captain, Julie McNamara and debutants Stella Radford and Meg Stevenson.

Racing starts at 12:30pm around the undulating grass of Jells Park.  After a sumptuous post race afternoon tea, MUAC athletes will gather at the Rawlinson Track at Melbourne Univeristy to celebrate the start of the winter season in the traditional manner.
