2015 Marathon training course
If you want to run your first marathon or if you want to improve on your previous marathon experience then this may just be what you’ve been looking for.
Melbourne University Athletic Club offers a training program that is aimed to help you prepare for the 2015 Melbourne Marathon. The participants will be coached by two of MUAC’s experienced and qualified coaches (Accredited Athletics Australia coaches, Level 2, Recreational Running) who are both experienced marathon runners themselves: Andy Selby Smith (10+ marathons) and Dion Houtman (4 marathons). Is the marathon too far for you? We also offer a half marathon program.
- There are limited places available
- You currently average about 40 kms per week (marathon) or 20 kms (half marathon) of running
- Your goal is to run the whole marathon or half marathon
Cost: Non student $380
Student: $250
What is included?
- Membership with Melbourne University Athletic Club and with Athletics Victoria
- includes Rawlinson track access during MUAC times, insurance, Lakeside Stadium Access during Athletics Victoria times and much more
(valid till April 2016)
- A training plan (beginner, intermediate or advanced)
- Two weekly training sessions (Monday and Wednesdays at 6pm)
- MUAC Singlet (required when racing during XCR15/Track & Field and awarded at your first race)
- 4 Organised Long Sunday Training Runs, choose from two different pace groups
- 20 km
- 25 km
- 30 km
- 35 km (or three hours)
- Entry to three relay running events (part of Athletics Victoria’s XCR15 competition)
- All of the summer track and field competition
Other costs:
- Entry to the Melbourne Marathon/Half Marathon
- Entry to the 2 remaining individual races of the XCR15 winter season. These cost $30 per race
- Recommended tune up events:
- Half Marathon – Sunday 6 September Burnley (XCR15)
- 34/17 km Ballarine Rail Trail Run – Sunday August 23 (Free of Charge)
