XCR14 Round 2: Lardner Park Cross Country

Stella for GoldThe hills, fences and ditches of Lardner Park confronted 27 MUAC athletes on Saturday, 17th May as athletes prepared for Round 2 of the XCR14 series. Warm weather and minimal rain reduced the chance of mud on the course but the hard, uneven ground provided an additional challenge.

Performance of the day came from Stella Radford, who won the U20 Women’s 3km race in 10:51, crossing the line 8s clear of her nearest rival. Sophie Barker returned to racing with a top 5 finish in the Open Women’s 4km event and Mark Kirwan took sixth in the Open Men’s 8km event. Sam Blake ran into the top 10 in the U20 Mens 4km, after riding out to Lardner Park.

With 20 men racing, the Mens teams did very well finishing 3rd, 7th and 3rd. MUAC’s womens Premier Division team took 4th place on the day to move up the ladder to third place after two rounds.
